My name is Slot One and I'm an emcee from Los Angeles CA. This is The Rainforest LP. I was incarcerated at the age of 18 for 12 years and chronicled my experience of self reflection, self realization, evolution, consciousness, and struggle in this long overdue LP. Hip Hop is one of the main reasons I maintained my sanity throughout this period of tribulation and watching it slowly disintegrate while living in the place where ignorance was almost all- pervasive caused me to express such deep subject matter at such a young age. Some of these tracks I wrote when I was just 18 years old and some when I was as old as 30. The album is a blend of conscious, spiritual, political and raw, hardcore hip hop. The title Rainforest LP is synonymous with what's happening to our ecosystem as well as our beautiful hip hop culture in the name of material advancement which, if looked at from a deeper perspective, is also happening to each and every one of us.
